When it comes to electric cars, I can absolutely tell you for certain that there is no car out there that looks as cool as the Myers Motors NMG2, this is actually a two-seat electric trike that is disguised as a car. However, it actually has three weeks and to me … it looks kind of like an alien space ship. If you like it though, this little three-wheel thing is available for pre-order right now.
The current base price is around $29k+ but if a thousand people drop $250.00 on a pre-order, the price will drop for everyone of about $5,000 — so that’s a good thing! Myers is going to wait around until June of 2010 to really see how many preorders are going to come about to see what the actual price of car is going to be.
So … you might want to wait this one out, you could get this little beauty for around $22k+, which is better than $29k+!

When you are looking for a hybrid car … I can tell you that the Smart ForTwo is definitely a car that I want to own. This is a car that is not only going to look pretty chic and interesting but it is completely and totally electric. That is one of the best things about it. Right now though — the Smart has a lot of issues that they are trying to resolve and that is what the Smart ForTwo is trying to resolve.
For example, the Smart right now can only get up to about 40 hp and it can only provide short bursts when the accelerator is pushed to the floor. Most of the time, the horsepower is around 27 and honestly, that is not enough to really get you where you want to go.
However … if you are just running up to the store or even to work, this is certainly the car for you and it is cheap!

You know, there is a mistaken impression among a lot of people unfamiliar with the latest hybrid vehicles who think that these environmentally awesome cars are sort of weak, maybe not as cool as other vehicles. But those people must not have yet laid eyes on the 2010 Tesla Roadster.
This roadster has the power and ability to turn even the biggest skeptic into a fan of electric cars and hybrids. It is a two seater with a soft top, and its adaptations come from specific elements associated with the Lotus Elise. It will go from zero to sixty miles per hour in less than four seconds.
Of course, it also costs over one hundred thousand — unless you want to get to sixty even faster with the Sport Model, at which point you can go up to one hundred and thirty grand for your troubles.

Here’s a tip: keep an eye out for the Los Angeles Auto Show about to take place. Why? Because it will feature the product of a very surprising alliance between Capstone and the Chief Creative Director of Electronic Arts, Richard Hilleman.
And what result is that? The CMT-380, classified not just as a hybrid but as a sports car as well. It utilizes an electric power train along with a microturbine that is diesel fueled and range extending. It has a battery pack of lithium polymer, which gives the vehicle a pure electric range of eighty miles. The microturbine makes for an astonishing five hundred more miles.
A kit car platform is responsible for the build of the car — specifically, the platform for the Factory Five Racing GTM supercar.

The Cash for Clunker program was successful in bringing car buyers into the showrooms. This boosted the sales figures for hybrid vehicles in July and August. As the program ends, the number of hybrid vehicles rolling out of shops also plummeted by as much as 48.4% in September compared to the sales in August.
The drop in sales is attributed by analysts to how buyers took advantage of the
benefits provided by the Cash for Clunkers scheme. The end of the program also meant hybrid vehicles not being the top choice of buyers because of their higher sticker price.
August was witness to about 38,701 hybrid vehicles rolling of the stores while September only tallied about 19,977 hybrid units. The drop in sales was worse than expected. The sales of hybrid vehicles even decreased more than the conventional cars which had a drop of 40.9%.
Even the leader of the hybrid segment, the Toyota Prius fell by as much as 42% in terms of sales volume. All the numbers of carmakers took a dive including the tandem of Lexus and Toyota on the hybrid market which experienced a sales drop of around 39.7%.

There has been a lot of news lately about the 2011 Chevy Volt – did you know that people actually think that the Volt would become a brand name? Well, I am here to put an end to that rumor and I have to say that the Volt is not going to become a brand name. While the car itself is going to be coming out, the Volt is still going to be a Chevy.
Have you heard about the 2011 Chevy Volt? Well, this is by far one of the most anticipated cars in the world and I think that it is certainly one car that I am going to invest in. Not only is the 2011 Chevy Volt a car that looks fantastic but it is a car that is so eco-friendly that it totally rocks too.
If you have been looking forward to the 2011 Chevy Volt, you should definitely make your reservation to get one because I think that they are going to go fast!

When you have a hybrid car … what is the biggest question that is on your mind? For me, especially for the electric hybrid cars, it is all about where exactly you are going to be able to plug in your car. Charging up your cars battery is obviously going to be a very important step, but what happens when you want to take your car on a road trip?
Well, extension cords are going to become your best friend in the world, for they are certainly going to be used a lot whenever you are charging up your car. However – if you have an electric hybrid car, I have to tell you that the technology that is going into these versions of hybrids is insane.
A lot of companies are coming up with automatic charging batteries that they are including in their hybrid cars – so when you switch over to gas from electric, your car is really charging, which is pretty slick.

Now, as to just how a hybrid car can save you money on your car insurance rates, well … that is what we are here to talk about.
Insurance can be lower on a hybrid because of the age ranges of the people who own them. Typically, back in the day when they were new, hybrids were owned by people between the ages of forty one and sixty, which had a lot to do why insurance rates were so low. As a reward for younger drivers buying hybrids, however, sometimes drivers between twenty five and forty can get a great discount as well.
Insurance companies are quick to jump on the green bandwagon, and thus often offer discounts to hybrid drivers. Hybrids often come with a number of safety features and anti theft devices as well, and even something as simple as an airbag can bring down your insurance rates.

Hybrid cars. We talk about them all the time. We chronicle the hottest new hybrids. We review both the best new hybrids and the worst hybrids. You know it well, this blog is all about hybrids, hybrids, hybrids, old, new, good, bad, and in between.
We bring you news on hybrid, we talk about the technology behind them, we talk about everything, it seems like, except the other reasons to drive them. Sure, they are great for the environment, many of them get enviable gas mileage, and they can save you money because of that.
However, that is by no means the only way driving a hybrid can save you money.
When it comes to car insurance — which, it seems like, is getting progressively more expensive — you can save money by driving a hybrid as well.

Although Europe is not the only country that likes mini cars – however, Opel is actually in the market for a business partner right now so they can actually complete their European minicar. They have been developing this particular car for quite some time now however it seems to be really costly and they would like a business partner to invest into it.
Right now, Opel has set aside about two-hundred and fifty million euros for this particular car but they would still like a business partner for it. Ford and Fiat share the Fiat Panda/Fiat 500/Ford Ka platform and Toyota and PSA share the Toyota Aygo/Citreon C1 structure … so who is going to partner with Opel?
It might be Suzuki or even Magna – however these are just hints, there is nothing at all solid.
